Maria Cazar is an Associate Attorney at Sioli Alexander Pino handling Defense Base Act and Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act matters within the firm’s practice.

A native of Guayaquil, Ecuador, Maria brings a strong international and cross-jurisdictional perspective to her legal practice. She earned her law degree in Chile (Licenciatura en Ciencias Jurídicas) from Universidad de los Andes in Santiago, and later obtained her Juris Doctor and LL.M. in International Arbitration from the University of Miami School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in both Florida and Chile, and is licensed in common law and civil law jurisdictions.

Maria began her legal career in Chile at Barros & Errázuriz, working on capital markets and corporate matters for a range of clients, primarily investment fund managers and pension fund administrators, among others. After relocating to the United States, she transitioned into litigation, serving as an Assistant State Attorney in Broward County, Florida, where she prosecuted criminal cases from intake through trial and gained substantial courtroom and litigation experience.

Prior to joining Sioli Alexander Pino, Maria served as General Counsel at XS Global, working closely with company leadership on legal, governance, and compliance matters. In this role, she handled the company’s contractual, corporate, and regulatory issues, with a focus on Latin American operations and cross-border insurance and reinsurance activities, and advised on legal considerations affecting the company’s operation.

Outside of her legal work, Maria is passionate about padel and loves competing whenever she can. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
